Our Vision, Our Mission
At The Mustard Seed Projects, we have a vision that all children in Tonga live in an environment - at home, at school, at church, in the community - where they can thrive, learn, express themselves and achieve their full potential. To realize this vision, our mission is to empower children of all ages in Tonga through access to tailored resources, community-driven initiatives, and capacity-building programs and efforts to nurture talent, dignity and holistic development.
Our History
After facing some internal challenges with a christmas-gifting program that became stagnant in its progress. This was heartbreaking as more and more children looked forward to receiving gifts for Christmas to no avail. In June of 2025, an intergenerational group of people met to discuss how children's needs - and not just holiday needs - can be met without relying on unstable circumstances. That evening, over dinner, the Mustard Seed Projects was born.
Our Programs
It is our understanding that to meet the needs of children in Tonga, we must employ a Family-Teams approach - one that takes into consideration the roles and responsibilities of parents, family, church, school and community in raising our children.
Our programs are tailored according to this. Currently, we are developing a parenting toolkit for parents of children living with learning disabilities and looking into meeting the need of babies and their mothers to have dignified spaces in public such as changing rooms or changing facilities. We also have an annual Christmas Shoebox/Gifting event.
