OUR VALUES

Nothing About Us, Without Us

There is value in what our children have to say and do. There is no room for one-sided conversations. In everything we do, we vow to consult our children in all our plans and initiatives.

Do No Harm

Our children deserve a life of dignity and respect, free from all forms of violence and we have a duty of care to protect that. In everything we do, we vow to act in the best interest of our children, with their consent, and with the consent of their parents or primary caregivers.

Equity and Inclusion

We are all created equal and have the right to equal access to opportunities and resources. In everything we do, we vow to ensure that we create spaces that allow for equal access for all and to provide reasonable accommodation for those living with any form of disability.

Integrity and Accountability

When working with children, we hold ourselves to a standard that is befitting of carers and custodians of initiatives involving children to ensure their safety and protection is paramount. In everything we do, we vow to have integrity, honesty and hold ourselves accountable.

Collaboration

We acknowledge the breadth of work that has been carried out by those before us in the government of Tonga, the NGO's, OPD's and civil society organizations that work with children. In everything we do, we vow not to work in silo but to collaborate with them in learning, information sharing and networking.

Cultural Relevance

We acknowledge the deep-rooted relevance of family and religion in Tonga and the complexity and nuanced experiences of children in Tonga. In everything we do, we vow to be led by them in ensuring that we remain responsive to the context of where we work.

Transparency

We acknowledge we cannot do this work without the donations and funds of organizations and individuals who identify themselves as allies in this work. In everything we do, we vow to report the progress and the findings of our work by publishing reports on our website and disseminating them via social media.
